My wife, and girls all loved BOB, but didn't like The Pacific at all. "It's too violent, destructive and depressing" Yeah, and it doesn't show the actual hell it REALLY was, and it was 99% worse than what is shown. My uncle was in the Pacific theater in the Army, and my mom remembered that he drank himself to death by 47 years old. Only story he told her about was trying to get a sniper, and finally doing so, when it was only them(2) and the sniper left. She still has her brothers billfold, which has the picture of the dude's Japanese family in it.

Cromarty Forge. Great 15mm scaled figs for the Roman Era. They have early and late. I am working through some Goths now that are awesome. 12-15 poses in a set so you can get a lot of variety. They have sets that feature dynamic "attacking" poses as well as more traditional "standing" static poses. I'm hoping they expand their range into Medieval. They have vikings so moving in that direction.

I also started with an Ender 3. They have gotten much better in the years since this video was posted. The bed in the v2 KE auto levels, the build plate is magnetic, but it never gave me the print quality on figures I wanted. Changing the nozzle out I managed to break the heating element (Extruder) and then it no longer worked. Long story short, I had gotten the Ender for free and I decided I liked 3d printing so was willing to spend a little money on it. I got the Bambu A1 mini which like the Prusa is a much better machine. It prints 15mm figs with more tha adequate detail (on a 0.02 mm nozzle). Night and day difference between these and ones that had come off the Ender. It is also quiet enought to sit behind my desk and I don't even notice it most of the time.

One thing bugs me (and I am being nit picky here) is that in Tombstone, people say "Hello". But nobody said hello until the telephone became a normal part of life. In fact, Edison wanted people to answer the phone with "Ahoy". I'm glad that didn't catch on.

Band of Brothers has multiple advantages as a story for a miniseries. It focuses on one group of characters and their progression throughout the war. And Easy Company's journey is like it was made to be turned into a miniseries because they were involved in almost every major conflict in the western front of the war from D-Day to Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge to capturing the Eagle's Nest. The Western front was still brutal, but it was generally a series of victories culminating in the defeat of Hitler. It's a much easier to tell story. The Pacific has the disadvantage of telling the stories 3 mostly unrelated characters to cover the entire pacific theater. And the Pacific Theater was a brutal meat grinder that differs from the rolling glory of the western front. The Pacific did a pretty good job, but it'll never work as well as a story because of the nature of it's construction.

Youngster here, started some 15 years ago at the age of 16. I started with Revell and italeri 1:72 scale, as they are widely available and cheap. I based them individually on washers and 3D printed square 2x2 bases to stick them together so i can play skirmish and army games. I have switched to 28mm a few years ago, experimenting more with smaller conflicts such as the french invasion of Switzerland in 1798, playing Sharp Practice. 28mm has a wider selection and the plastic allows for kitbashing or special kits are available. Sharp Practie is easy to learn and is a bridge to army level games as the figures are in formations. Leaders play a very important role, which is common in SciFi and Fantasy Games. I introduced many Players coming from Warhammer and such to historics and i found this to be the best choice by far. 50-60 Models per side will get a very good game and all the painting techniques and general feel and touch are similar enough to what my age group is familiar with. Highly recommended.

"The Pacific" was much too focused on creating moral equivalences between the horrors committed by Japanese soldiers and the American Marines. They over emphasized PTSD symptoms to the most extreme cases. The Pacific theater of WWII was nothing at all like the European theater. In Europe there was at least some chance for humanity between adversaries. In the Pacific there was none of that, almost no surrender, no prisoners taken, it was a fight to the death for all concerned. Even the stories they chose to tell were designed to marginalize the American achievement of winning this war. It was almost as if it was intended to put off it's American audience.

I see problems already. Longstreet going to Vicksburg in April???? That totally ignores the purpose of what Longstreet was doing in southernern Virginia. He was collecting food for lees starving army. Also, confederates were not in trouble in April. In fact during April pemberton offered troops to general Bragg. I assume you mean to say that confederates were going to send troops to Mississippi from Virginia as soon as porters fleet sailed past Vicksburg. You are moving troops from Lee right before Chancellorsville. How could the confederates know that they would win Chancellorsville without Longstreet. The most logical time for confederates to move out is after Chancellorsville and after the meeting on may 15th. You also stated about 10 days to move. Maybe the troops but not the wagons. Also, recall general Stevenson move from Murfreesboro tn to Vicksburg in December of 1862 took a month. And finally gen Johnson said he did get his wagons and supplies until late June 1863. There was not enough time. Plus the army of Potomac does not respond with troops to Vicksburg either or the army of the Cumberland?

It brought a sence of understanding of an unknown war for non-americans ... in Europe nobody would know about the other side of WW2
